Premier's choices will haunt him

When the government appointed Bernard Richard as Youth Advocate in October of 2006, Premier Graham had many good things to say about the former Liberal education minister: "Bernard Richard perfectly fits this key role because of his dedication, professionalism and years of experience. I'm confident he will provide a strong, independent voice."

I suppose now that Mr Richard has released his searing report on the paint-by-numbers approach that commissioners Croll and Lee took when studying French language instruction, Graham wishes Richard's voice were not quite so strong or independent. But Mr. Graham apparently has much to learn from the description he gave of Mr Richard.

In politics, dedication means following public process fairly, something that has been completely absent in the French education decision-making; and professionalism means setting aside personal or party loyalties for the betterment of the province. As for "long public service," I predict Graham's choice to disregard the Ombudsman's report will determine if someday he, like Mr Richard, can claim that.

Do you know these ladies personally?
I'm quite certain they know all the facts in regards to the elimination of EFI, as do I. Proponents of EFI seem to be the only ones who have all the facts. They also have the courts and the ombudsman on their side, in regards to the process the Dept of Ed used to come up with the plan to eliminate EFI.
Just for the record, I've seen many letters from men who are as equally opposed to EFI elimination.
Your comments are very offensive to all women regardless of their position on EFI.
