Perception is the key

When John Kennedy was a young man he loved sports but when he became president of the United States he said, "Politics is the only game for adults."

I thought of this when I heard a radio interview with two Cabinet Ministers from Ottawa who were resigning from politics. Here was two well-known, competent, experienced men in the prime of political life quitting.

They gave similiar, predictable reasons and I don't believe any of them. Because they didn't burn any of their bridges they left an opening to return to politics in the future.

Clearly they are quitting because they canot stand their leader any longer. They cannot stand Harper's rules, broken promises, deceptions, his endless was in Afghanistan, the senseless, wasteful deaths of Canadians.

They especially cannot stand Harper's treatment of his MP's in Parliament. He views them as lackeys, door-openers, yes men.

All this is known by the media watchers in Ottawa but does it make a difference to the public? Not according to the polls.

Harper is leading. He should win the election, even the majority, this proves an old adage. To the voting public what matters is the perception of truth not objective truth even if it be known.
