88 A HAIR CUT

88 A HAIR CUT

There are two things in all eternity that will not change. One is obvious and that is God. His love, His patience, His word and His dislikes will never change and, if we are going to live with Him forever, we will, not only not try to change Him to suit us, but love Him for who He is and just the way He is.

When we love Him as He is, we learn to trust Him and His consistency. We learn to accept His words, corrections, disciplines, tests and hardships, knowing that it pleases Him and is for our good; to make us into things that bring Him pleasure.

We were created for Him and His pleasure, so that He could delight in being with us, help us to please Him and fill the world with His love.

He expects us to be like Him, in that, we also will love, hate, have patience, speak truth, act righteously and live holy like Him and with as much consistency as Him.[in other words, all the time with no mistakes.]

[Remember, a mistaken action is not a mistaken attitude until you decide to cover up your mistaken action and disown it.]

To do nothing does not mean that you have succeeded and will remain in love with God but is just the opposite. God commands us to actively love and serve Him. When we accept Him for who He is and what He is and don’t obey Him, we are openly shaming Him before the world by telling them that God is not important enough in our life to be worth obeying.

Like any new baby, pleasing God has to be learned and is best learned from watching and doing the actions of those who are pleasing Him already. Asking those people why they are doing what they are doing is the best way to understand God’s love in their life and how you can also please Him. As you learn and do it right, other new and unlearned Christians can watch you and ask your reasons for your actions and learn for themselves.

God will, in your live and in the lives of those who are learning from you, confirm weather you are doing it right or not by His word, by talking to you or by sending, someone that He trusts, to you to help you. [Did you notice that it was someone that He trusts and not someone that you trust?]

God has done all this so that we can grow in love and maturity; pleasing Him by our struggle to grow and mature because we want to do it out of our love for Him. To grab what we have and stop, trying to hang on to and keep what we have already learned by doing it over and over again without going on to learn and practice new and better things will cause us to not grow, not mature and not please God. He wants us to trust Him and go on experimenting and testing His truth; trying new and different things; rejecting and discarding those that we find He disapproves of, in us, and keeping and correcting those that we find He wants us to keep and improve on.

To say that you love God and stop is like hair; stop cutting it and it becomes a mess. To keep it looking good, you must cut and trim it regularly; taking away all of it that you don’t want, to look your best. Our lives have to be lived in active service for God but we also have to evaluate it, consistently, to make sure that it is what God wants us to keep and trim away the things that He doesn’t want.

You have probably already guessed what the second thing is that never changes; that’s right, it is change itself. There will always be change, weather you want it or not, you can not stop it.

Blog: Always Learning

Hi. I am Stephen Porter; a Christian who is also a normal everyday working person. I have been a Christian for over 30 years. God has gone to a great deal of trouble to let us know Him intimately and to help us understand His way of doing things, so this blog is simply my attempt to help you know and understand God in today's ordinary world. I will not argue with anyone but I will try to expand on your understanding by answering as many questions as my time will allow.
