Saturday, May 3, was Free Comic Book Day at shops across Canada, and at the Books Inn book store here in Miramichi, youngsters and adults alike turned out in droves for the occasion. There was a vast assortment of different free comics available, from the traditional superhero stories to Japanese Manga and everything in between.

Indoor yard sale set to take place today at Napan Hall
The 2008 spring lobster season officially got underway at 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 4. It was a very foggy morning and not as many people as usual on the wharf to see the lobster fisherman off, but still the excitement and anticipation could be felt in the air as the boats revved up their engines and headed out of the harbour.

The Miramichi Mall parking lot was the site of a community barbecue and fun day in support of the Canada Breast Cancer Foundation on Saturday, May 3. ICT employees hosted the event, which featured bouncy castles, face painting, a car wash, live music and draws for prizes, along with barbecued sausages, hotdogs and hamburgers.
