
Maritime Idol coming to Doaktown tomorrow


Maritime Idol is coming to the Doaktown for students in the area ages 12 and up, hosted by the Doaktown Consolidated High School. Contestants perform live in front of a voting audience and are videotaped and put online at www.maritimeidol.com for voting over the Internet as well.
The four-week competition will start Tuesday, April 29 at the school and continue May 6, 13 and 27 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A percentage of the admission goes to the student council of the school.
A maximum of 12 contestants will compete for weekly prizes $500. Each of the weekly winners will then move on to the regionals in front of a panel of judges for $1000 in prizes, and then the semi-finals for $2000 in prizes. The top performers will advance to the year-end finale for a chance at winning a recording contract and the title of Maritime Idol 2008.
