Sept. 5
Enjoy Wing Night at the Doaktown Legion on Friday from 9 p.m.-12 a.m. with a Happy Hour from 9-10 p.m. in the downstairs lounge. Admission is free.

Registrations must be in before Sept. 5 for Doaktown Consolidated High School girls in Grades 6-12 interested in participating in the 2008 Miss Doaktown Pageant, scheduled for Sept. 18 as part of the village's Fall Frolic Weekend. Sept. 9
"Let's Get Moving" is the theme for the monthly Story Time for preschoolers at the Doaktown Library on Sept. 9 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Children can enjoy stories, songs, games and a healthy snack. All area preschoolers are invited to attend this free one-hour program.
Sept. 10
Mango Blackville — a registered dietician is offering a session on "Nutrition for Children," and all parents are welcome. The session will be held at the Blackville Village Office on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. For more information call Jean Goodfellow at 843-2871 or Mary Moody 843-6329
Sept. 11
The next general meeting of the Doaktown Legion will be held on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. The 2009 Legion membership cards are now available. Be an early bird, pay for your membership card, and help the Branch earn an Early Bird Award.
Sept. 13
To celebrate Maisie Arbeau's 80th birthday and Tommy Arbeau's 60th birthday, there will be an open house at the Saint Thomas United Church Hall in Doaktown on Sept. 13 beginning at 2 p.m. Best wishes only.
Sept. 14
Mark your calendars for the Annual Terry Fox Run on Sept. 14. The run begins at 2 p.m. at the Salmon Museum in Doaktown and goes to the Irving Mill and back. Participants can start registering at 1:30 p.m. at the museum. Pledge sheets will be available at ScotiaBank and Canada Post in Doaktown as well as the Doaktown Community Library. T-shirts and pledge sheets will also be available from Bonnie Robinson at 365-2018.
Sept. 15
Mango Blackville is bringing Aerobic Classes to Blackville for anyone 12 years of age and older from Sept. 15 to Dec. 14, Monday and Wednesday nights, from 7-8 p.m. at the Blackville United Church Centre on Main Street. Sept. 20
Make your reservations now for the Doaktown Library's 9th annual Fall Home Tour and Luncheon on Sept. 20. Tickets are $12 each, which includes viewing four of the community's prettiest homes and the quilts at Doak Historic Site. It is also a great chance to reunite with old friends and neighbors over a hearty lunch provided by the Doaktown Consolidated High School Grade 11 Class. The homes on the 2008 Fall Home Tour include the following hosts: Mike and Inge Quinn, Derek and Lyn Munn, Bud and Lou O'Donnell, Clarence and Glenna Taylor, and the Doak House. Tour the homes from 2-4 p.m. The school gymnasium will be open from 3-5 p.m. for the luncheon and door prize draws. Phone the Library at 365-2018 to reserve your tickets.

Start thinking about showcasing your talents in the 2008 Miramichi Lumberjack Competition to be held on Sept. 20 (rain date is Sept. 21) on the grounds of the Atlantic Salmon Museum. The Organizing Committee has gone all out this year with lots of events for both adults and novices. They've even brought in a brand new Tuatahi M-Tooth Racing Saw (the kind used in logging contests around the world) from New Zealand to try in the crosscut competitions. Find a partner and sign up for the Mixed Harvest Ball teeing off at the Old Mill Pond Golf Club in Doaktown at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20. There is a maximum of 36 teams, and the entry fee is $70 per team, which includes a practice round on Sept. 19 and dinner on Sept. 20. Currently, only 16 slots are left. Vendors are wanted for the Saturday morning market to be held next door to the Early Bird Breakfast at the Doaktown Curling Club on Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. to noon. If you have crafts, baked goods, preserves, garden produce or yard sale items to sell, now's the time. Space is available for $10 with proceeds to be shared between the Doaktown Library and the DCHS Student Council. Sept. 21
The Terry Fox Canoe Run will be held on Sept. 21 beginning at 11:30 a.m., which will give participants a whole week to rest up after the official walk on Sept. 14. Registration fee is $10 per canoe or kayak and includes a complimentary dessert and free gift from the Museum.
