The University of New Brunswick has awarded the first Jane Margaret Worth Memorial Bursary to a UNB Fredericton student for study in the 2008-09 academic year.

Emily O'Shea of Sunny Corner, N.B., who is a recent graduate of North and South Esk High School, has been awarded $500. O'Shea is currently studying in the nursing faculty. She is the daughter of Bridget and Bernard O'Shea.

The bursary is awarded on the basis of financial need to a student enrolled in the bachelor of nursing degree program who has demonstrated successful academic performance. Consideration will be given to the student's involvement in community activities.

This bursary was established to honour Jane Worth BN 1970, a dedicated nurse and health care administrator, with donations from Jane's family and friends as well as a matching gift from the New Brunswick University Opportunities Fund.
