Two more running in city elections

Two more contenders have thrown their hats in the May municipal election ring in Miramichi:
Mike Connors and Shawn Khan.
“I feel bringing new business to our City must be paramount,” said Connors.
“With the recent mill closures, I feel that Miramichi must work harder to obtain and retain businesses in our city. It is an exciting and trying time in our city and I look forward to working with the new council, if I am elected on May 12.”
Originally from Saint John, Khan came to Miramichi because of a new job prospect — and stayed, he said, because he likes the way of life that Miramichi provides to its citizens.
“Miramichi has so many hidden treasures that people are not aware of: a beautiful river and lots of potential in regard to business prospects that I feel we are missing out on, that we can ill afford to do when we have just faced a number of mill closures in Miramichi.”
Khan said his priorities will include bringing new business to the area and, “... working with the business communities in Miramichi to retain the business that we currently have ... but that requires a plan and council working together as a collective unit to make these things happen.”
Khan said he is looking forward to meeting many Miramichiers during the municipal election.
He asks anybody interested in talking to him to call him at 627- 0166 with any concerns or questions.
