Community comes out for Schizophrenia Walk of Hope

The 15th Annual Walk of Hope for Schizophrenia was held on Sunday, May 4, beginning at the Miramichi Mall parking lot.
Those living with schizophrenia were joined by family, friends and supporters at the walk, along with a number of community organizations. The 315 Newcastle
Air Cadet band, the 3037 Miramichi Army Cadets and the Miramichi River Cruisers all had representatives in the walk.
Carrying banners and signs to raise awareness of the disease, marchers made their way along Pleasant Street, around the square, up Miramichi Boulevard to Campbell Street and finally to the Knights of Columbus building, where there was entertainment, prize draws and refreshments.
The Schizophrenia Society, which organized the walk, is a non-profit community based organization dedicated to promoting awareness of mental heath, support and education to family members and the community.
