The federal government is providing $672,000 to fund 290 student summer jobs in the Miramichi region.

The government also announced it has opened a Service Canada Centre for Youth at 150 Pleasant Street. The centre provides youth with job information, interview advice, resume building skills and job search strategies. It also offers job posting services to employers. The centre can be reached at 627-2044.

According to the government, Canada Summer Jobs funds "quality career-related student work experiences that deliver important community services for children, families, people with disabilities, seniors and others. The initiative will focus on local priorities and will achieve tangible results for both students and their communities."
