It has come to my attention that the powers that be are contemplating dismantling the Morrissy Bridge, a structure of long standing and reliable service covering a period from 1914, the time of our First World War until our present day of 2008, a period of 94 years.
Now, without any public consultation a group of political officials are considering going along with the present government in agreeing to dismantle the bridge and that is not in accordance with the opinion of the general public who are in favour of maintaining the structure.
The answer to the dilemma-like situation is usually resolved by initiating a plebiscite which is a vote by all concerned in favour of or against the resolution of this problem.
So I would suggest that all those concerned should meet with me, or Michael Mersereau, to make known your intentions of protesting or creating a situation for a plebiscite. Please call 622-1649 or 622-3036.
