Gas prices up

Despite a drop in oil prices, New Brunswickers were paying more at the pumps Thursday after the price of gas rose by almost three cents.

The Energy and Utilities Board's weekly price adjustment takes the price of regular self-serve gasoline to 129.13 cents per litre, up 2.8 cents from last week.

Mid-grade self-serve jumped to 132.52 cents per litre, while premium climbed to 135.91 cents per litre.

The price of diesel was also hiked yesterday morning, climbing 1.5 cents per litre from last week to a new maximum of 138.88 cents per litre.

Furnace oil was set at 1.48 cents per litre, up 1.48 cents from last week.

Propane jumped 2 cents per litre to a new maximum of 109.70 cents per litre.

The N.B. benchmark rate is based on the average daily price at the N.Y. Harbor division of the N.Y. Mercantile Exchange. Prices listed here do not include the up to two-cent per litre delivery charge.

Light, sweet crude for October delivery fell 36 cents to settle at US$109.35 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Wednesday, after earlier dipping as low as $107.22.
