Singer raises awareness of Parkinsons at local chapter's first meeting

Former Miramichier Robbie Tucker spoke passionately about his experience of living with Parkinsons.
The singer/songwriter also performed for the audience at the NBCC theater on Friday.
Tucker talked about being diagnosed with the disease at the age of 28 and his new project Musicians against Parkinson's and MAPMUSIC.
The young man detailed the effects the disease had on his mind and body and the feeling of being trapped. The audience heard how it took him 15 minutes to get his guitar out of the case and other ways it changed his life.
Treatment allows Tucker to play and sing again, something the performer has always enjoyed doing.
The event was sponsored and organized by the Greater Miramichi Parkinson Chapter and the Parkinson Society, Maritime Region.
The Greater Miramichi Parkinson Chapter was formed a month ago. The evening event with Tucker was the group's first meeting.
The next meeting will take place June 2 in the Sobey's community room.
President of the newly formed Miramichi Parkinson Chapter Judy Morrison was pleased with the attendance and the work to raise awareness of the disease.
