My first night of cadets was awesome. We learned all kinds of stuff in our classes. We had a drill class and learned how to stand at attention and at ease and how to march. I met all kinds of people and made friends.

In classes we found out about all the things we will do in cadets this year. I think that being a cadet is a great way to learn about leadership skills and self-discipline. We are going to learn all kinds of stuff like that, and go on a lot of trips, too.

It's free to be in cadets. Even the uniform is free. And in the summer we get paid money to go to summer camp.

I think that cadets will help me develop my energy and be a helpful citizen. Someday I would like to join the Canadian Forces, and I hope that being in cadets will help me pave a way to that, too.
