Between 80 and 110 millimetres of rain is expected, reads the special weather statement issued on Wednesday morning.

The warning applies to Fredericton and Southern York County, Fundy National Park, Grand Lake and Queens County, Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County, Oromocto and Sunbury County, Saint John and County, St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County, and Sussex-Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County.

Similar storms in the past have caused hazardous driving conditions from water pooling on roadways,  localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas, and elevated water levels in creeks and streams,” the statement reads.

“Rainfall rates may exceed 15 mm per hour at times in the heaviest downpours. Do not drive through flooded streets or parking lots. Rainfall warnings may be issued as this event draws nearer.”
