Goose Lane Editions has announced that Canada's Black Watch: An Illustrated History of the Regular Force Battalions 1951-1970 by Simon Falconer will be launched on Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 5-7 p.m. in the Sergeant's and Warrant Officer's Mess Building A-4, Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Gagetown. Colonel Ken Chadder, Commanding Officer of CFB Gagetown, will open this event.

Canada's Black Watch is a book of importance to many members of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families as well as military historians and collectors. This illustrated, full-colour volume tells the story of the battalions which, from 1951 to 1970, were part of the regular forces, and were headquartered at Aldershot, Nova Scotia, and CFB Gagetown. Featuring an array of archival photographs, and regimental artifacts, many from the Museum at CFB Gagetown, Canada's Black Watch is a tribute to one of the most storied regiments of the Cold War.

Photographs of the soldiers and their commanding officers, the bases, the equipment, the uniforms, the badges and the medals are all represented in detail.

The book concludes with a comprehensive list of nearly 6,000 men who served in the Black Watch.

Books will be available for purchase at this event and representatives of the Black Watch will be on hand to speak about their experiences. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
