Lovely Ella looking for responsible person

Hi! My name is Ella! I am a new adult here who is black and white with long fur, and I'm approximately a year old. You could say I am still getting used to the place, since I have not been here very long, and I am hoping to keep it that way. A friend came in with me — she is my age but orange/white in colour. We are both just as lovely.

Poor Ella has had a rough time because her last owner was not very responsible. She wants to find a better home this time around.

I came to the shelter as yet another pregnant female, which is probably why I was surrendered in the first place. There is no other reason why an affectionate and sweet cat like myself would be given up like that. I want people to know that if you let your cats run loose outside like I was let out, especially without having us spayed, it should be obvious that we will end up becoming mothers. Please, to prevent this, be a responsible pet owner and have your animal spayed or neutered so you will not end up in a situation you did not want.

Since I was not far along, the staff was still able to spay me, since the last thing I wanted was to give birth to kittens who nobody was going to want. Also, the shelter is very overcrowded the cats and kittens right now who desperately need homes. If I had had my kittens, we would have ended up taking up space for a couple months which other cats would need. I was rather lucky, considering many shelters euthanize pregnant cats.

I have been given another chance and I am ready to go to a good home now. In case you are not aware, seniors receive a discount on cats, which is a $30 adoption fee, and that includes cats who are spayed and neutered, like me. Would you please adopt me?

For more information about adopting, please call the SPCA at 622-0645 or come visit the shelter, located in the Chatham Industrial Park on 128 Dan Cripps St. The shelter is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday. The shelter is closed on Mondays.
