MJAHL looking at two franchise relocations

JUNIOR A HOCKEY — Next season's Miramichi Timberwolves road trips will now include a stop in Bridgewater, N.S. The Maritime Junior A Hockey League has given conditional approval to relocate the Halifax Wolverines.
The relocation of the team does not mean Halifax will be without an MJAHL franchise next season. The league board of governors is looking at a proposal for another group to purchase the Antigonish Bulldogs and move that franchise to Halifax. A decision on that is expected by May 15.
The league also announced it will not be considering a bid by an ownership group to put a team in Richmond, Que. The league is also awaiting the result of a report looking into the long-term mandate of the league. That report is expected to be available to the league by June 20. The league's entry draft will be held Saturday, June 21.
In other news, the Summerside Western Capitals will be hosting the 2008 through 2010 MJAHL Prospects Weekend where league talent is showcased for major junior, MCAA and CIS scouts.
