Week Two: Spring basketball action heats up

BASKETBALL — Teams took the court at James M. Hill Tuesday night for week two of Tommies Minor Basketball Association Women's Spring League action.

Play began with Team D taking on Team B in a lopsided affair. Team B was the dominant team from the tip-off and owned the first half, jumping out 20-8. The song remained the same in the second, leading to a 49-27 final.

Brook Sullivan led the march to victory for Team B with 10 points, while Brittany Savoy scored nine points and Lindsay Tucker had eight points. On the other side of the ball, Amber St. Coeur, Julianna Hache and Sophie Leggatt scored four points each.

The mismatches continued in Game 2 as Team C downed Team F 69-38. Andrea Napke and Erica Drisdelle led the way to victory with 14 points each, while Jill Boucher chipped in 10 points. Lincoln Menzies led Team F in points with 11. Samantha Levesque contributed 10 points and Emily Downing had eight points. Team C led 46-21 at the half.

The final game of the evening saw Team A getting dropped 70-53 by Team E. Despite a one-sided final, the game was close and competitive in the first half, with Team E taking a narrow 27-25 lead into half-time before pulling away in the second half.

Erin Keoughan was the star of the night for the league, putting 24 points on the board in the win for Team E. Brittany O'Toole and Samantha MacDonald followed with nine points each. Madison Doucet had 14 points for Team A while Abby Kierstead and Sara MacDonald tallied 10 points each.
