HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY — The Miramichi Valley Pulamoo girls rugby team earned its first victory of the season Tuesday in grand style with 34-0 drumming of the Louis J. Robichaud Cavalier.

On the road in Bouctouche for their third game of the season, the Pulamoo ruggers dominated the pitch, getting two tries from Sophie Manuel, two tries from Jayden Wormell one try each from Natara Lumsden and Tarryn Landry, who also kicked two conversions for the blue and gold.

The win moves the girls to 1-2 on the season in New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association AAA girls high school rugby play.

It’s been a rough start for the Pulamoo, who started the season with a 27-12 road loss in Shediac to the Ecole Clement-Cormier Cavalieres, and then were forced to play their first home game in the rain on a neutral pitch at James M. Hill, falling 34-0 to the Harrison Trimble High School Trojans.

The Pulamoo host to the Miramichi girls rugby derby today at 5 p.m against the Tommies who are coming off a 65-0 victory over the Patriotes last week.
